SCHOOL Mission STATEMENT
|
Christianity teaches that we are all ‘one in Christ’. At St. Andrew’s, this means that we are all equal and united as one people by God. If we are all one in Christ, we should all be celebrated and embraced, and not one of us should face discrimination. In Genesis 1: 27 it reads “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him”. At St. Andrew’s, we believe that this demonstrates that all people of all backgrounds, races and ethnicities, all of our school community should be welcomed. This shows that Christianity is a welcoming religion for people of all ethnicities as we are all made in the image of God. We are all part of one community.
This is given huge importance at the school through our rich and diverse curriculum which celebrates all people, through our policies and through our strategic leadership. This is further underpinned by our vision, 1 John 3:18, “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
Our united voice as one community upholds our shared vision. It enables us to challenge injustice and discrimination, and to celebrate our uniqueness through our diverse curriculum and enriched provision. Just as Jesus’s teachings taught his disciples to challenge the world around them, we too teach our children to use their voices for good in the world around them.
Throughout Jesus’s teachings, the disciples and followers of Christ faced challenges and were required to demonstrate strength. To reflect those teachings, we believe that we prepare our children to face challenge and become resilient in the face of struggles, and to persevere when faced with difficulties. Through our curriculum approach and our values, we nurture our children to find strength to be resilient and to recognise when there are challenges. We believe we create a culture of learners just as Jesus nurtured his disciples to follow him and learn from his teachings.
At St. Andrew’s, we believe that we are supporting and nurturing the children to be responsible citizens and stewards of the world around them, God’s wonderful creation. We value our place in the world as our role is to look after God’s creations by working together, making responsible choices for both now and the future. We believe that we have been entrusted with the responsibilities for looking after God’s world and we believe it is our role to support the children to understand how to become responsible stewards of God’s world.
We believe in the awe and wonder in God’s creations and find joy and inspiration in the world around us. At our school, this awe-inspiring world stimulates, engages and excites us, nurtures our curiosities and shapes our ambitious curriculum. |
